Premio FAES de la Libertad

02-12-2009

His Majesty the King of Spain, Don Juan Carlos I, has received today, Wednesday 2 December in Madrid the first ‘FAES Freedom Award'. The prize was given by José María Aznar, president of the Foundation for Social Studies and Analysis (FAES). The King accepted the award offered by Aznar in acknowledgement of his life and work dedicated to the promotion and defence of democracy and freedom.

The celebration of the first edition of the ‘FAES Freedom Award' has been the main act organised to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Foundation. FAES wishes to award this prize every year to acknowledge the value of freedom with which FAES has always identified itself.

The distinction is a piece maid by the painter and sculptor Blanca Muñoz and is called ‘Freedom'. It is an exclusive collection made for this award. Muñoz is the author of many works of art exhibited in Spain and abroad.
